Travel Alert: 16/3/2020

The coronavirus / Covid-19 situation is now even more serious, and as a result close to 100% of the updates issued by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) over the past week have related to the virus.

It’s safe to assume that at a minimum there are tests or quarantine in place in all countries, and entry restrictions or complete bans in the majority of popular travel destinations.

Although some countries may still technically be open to UK visitors, this can change any moment.

Please note that as of 11:00am on 13th March 2020, our underwriters have advised us that policies will no longer provide cover for claims relating to Coronavirus disease (COVID-19); severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus (SARS-COV-2) or any mutation of these including claims for Scheduled Airline Failure or End Supplier Failure.

Here’s a summary of the FCO’s advice against travel, and countries with entry restrictions and/or quarantines in place.
